What better way to spend quality time with your child than to do some nifty arts and craft together? Unleash your child's inner Picasso with this DIY upcycled egg carton flowers! On top of that, you'll be teaching your child to be eco-friendly. Put some thought into this – so much of packaging in this world is put to waste. Cereal boxes, cartons, cans, need I say more? While recycling and proper disposal of household wastes is essential and is important in keeping a healthy environment, reusing is somehow a less common route taken. So, how about we get started with those egg cartons shall we?
Here's what you need:
- An egg carton
- Child-friendly paints
- Paint brushes
- Puff Balls
- PVA Glue
Step 1: Cut out the egg carton into singles and trim to give the flower a four-petal look.
Step 2: Paint the flowers and set aside to dry.
Step 3: Once it’s dry, make a hole at the bottom of the carton and attach the straw using PVA glue.
Step 4: Glue the puff balls to the centre of the flower.
Step 5: Place your completed egg carton flowers in a glass or any vase of your choice. And there you have it! A decorative centrepiece for your dining table, for your little one's study desk, or bookshelf.
As a parent, you would probably be concerned about this mess this is all going to create. I assure you, this will be the least of your worry. We shouldn't be afraid of the mess made by children because in the end, it's all part of the learning process, and of course, the #FamilyChemistry you'll be achieving :)
