Arts & Crafts: Outfit Mix & Match
Today's arts & crafts is inspired by the book, We Wear Pants by Katie Abey (find these book in our Me Books Store here!). This is a fun way to introduce the different types and the names of animals and clothing to littles ones - so get creative!
Art Block paper
Pipe Cleaners (Alternatives: Ribbons or Strings)
First, grab your art block paper and cut them into squares (11cm x 11cm). Do as many pieces as you'd like.
Secondly, cut your cardboard into the same size as your papers to create a base.
Then, start drawing different types of animals wearing random clothing, hats, shirts, pants, skirts, gloves etc. Don't forget to colour them in!
Once you're done drawing and colouring, cut each drawing horizontally into 3 separate segments (head, upper body, lower body).
Using a puncher, punch one hole on the left for each segment.
Next, use a pen or anything with a pointy end to poke 3 holes on the left side.
Now you can assemble your craft by using pipe cleaners (alternatives: ribbons and strings) to create loops that hold the papers and cardboard together. Make sure to separate the heads, upper body and lower body of your drawings.
Lastly, to give this craft a dash of knowledge, use a marker to write down the names of the objects at the back of the drawings (e.g. if you drew pants then write "Pants" at the back), so kids can learn new words with every flip.
